DISCLAIMER
This is a somewhat long thread, only read if you're interested!
Chapter 1
The first time I had ever touched a screen where I had to enter a username was minecraft (yes, even before I made an instagram account)
Now obviously I had to overthink this like crazy, but eventually I just searched up a tutorial on youtube and found a formula.
[Color/Adjective] + [Animal/Profession]
(ex, Super Painter, Red Horse, Diamond Miner)
When I was little I was very interested in marine biology (to the extent that a 13 year old is able to), and was split between my favorite animals being tiger sharks & orcas.
Because of the formula requiring one word for the 2nd bit, Tiger shark wasn't an option. So I settled for "Orca".
As for the color, I've had many phases in my life for favorite colors, but at the time it was gold, no further significance.
I eventually settled for my first ever minecraft & online username... Golden_Orca
I would then go through multiple phases with my usernames, but sticking to the "Orca" branding.
Chapter 2
Until eventually, in early 2022, I had become a discord e-boy kind of person, and decided to make my name a bit more edgy.
By scrolling through namemc (minecraft name availability database) I had filtered through random names and gone to only english words.
This is where I found my next username: Torrid.
I loved the name, it sounded edgy and I got compliments for it (this was 2022, give me a break).
Until EVENTUALLY I decided I wanted to be a minecraft youtuber, so I checked what the search result would be if people googled my username... aanddd..
It was a brand for fat bitches. I did NOT want to associate myself with that and quickly changed my name upon discovering this.
Chapter 3
I kept sticking with Orca, but for some reason swapped to "NightLoaf" (had no significance, I do not know why I did this).
By this point I was developing a pretty good social life irl, and started trying to stay away from spending too much time online.
Hence, I went through two usernames; One referencing my irl name (riccardo), and one referencing the football team I support (AS Roma)
Forza Roma is just practically saying "Go Rome!" (supporting them), and ricc4rdo_ was the cleanest way I could spell my name, since everything else was unavailable.
Chapter 4
Around this period I had started spending more and more time online, until I found this community.
I was a head admin in a discord server of a popular tiktok looksmaxing creator, who has now quit (Joeeur), in late 2023 / early 2024, and this kickstarted my time in the community, and eventually later down the line I started referencing it.
To reflect my new interests, I cycled through buzzwords (im equally as disgusted) and a nostalgic change.
Chapter 5
I've now officially embraced the "Orca" / "Orka" branding. The only reason I don't go as Orca on here is because @Orca took that username.
I will likely be orca for the rest of my time online, and I'm content with that, as I have grown to love the name and identify myself with it.
Do you have any stories about your username history? I'm curious.
