My only friend in class might leave forever now

He said he might have to leave,because the doctors diagnosed there are huge problems with his sight,which has been getting alot worse and worse over time,and he has to go through a surgery to get saved. However the only known chance of it going successful and them not fucking it up is 20%. If they screw it up,he becomes full blind,and ofcourse he can't go to school ever again.
Now without a friend I will become even more autistic in class. He was the only one that understanded me and stood up for me whenever I got bullied. My other only friend irl died in a bus crash months ago. God must hate me alot
