I had an otoplasty, and unfortunately the result is far from what I expected. My right ear still sticks out noticeably more than my left, leaving me with an obvious asymmetry. I had a follow-up appointment today, and even the surgeon acknowledged that the ears are not symmetrical. What makes this even more frustrating is that otoplasty is generally considered a relatively straightforward procedure, yet I now have to deal with a result that doesn't look right. The most brutal part is that I have to wait another three months for the final healing process before I can undergo revision surgery. Knowing that I'll have to live with this outcome for months before anything can be done about it is really upsetting.
