Why would I lie about that? I remember distinctly my purple curtains, dark blue blinds, and painfully yellow, yet dim light. I was given a wooden chair across my room with a bowl that I'd occasionally get fruit in or snacks to eat from, but my meals were placed on a plate, placed at the floor of my door, I'd get a knock, they'd leave, I'd get my food, eat it, then I'd place the empty plate/bowl outside the door. I am not making this up.

I didn't see sunlight for a while, at my own fault as I had complete control over opening my curtains/blinds, but chose not to out of fear of being seen by someone outside. My room's window was at the front of the house, so attention to my window wasn't uncommon for passersby and I simply decided I'd not go through that humiliation ritual and thus I closed my blinds and curtains 24/7 for them years. Bear in mind that for around 3/5 of the time, we were undergoing COVID-19 lockdowns and I still lived with my parents at the time before moving out, so I truly got zero sunlight.

They didn't seem to hate me, but I cannot reason why even blaming it on germ-obsession explains the extent and extremity of how they did it.
