They are still of the mindset that hard work correlates to growth and success, which obviously isn't true.

I fear many parents of people around my age are also like this; they think you can just go to college, get a job, buy a house, and live happily ever after. the brutal reality will be apparent in the next 5 years.

my teacher has a daughter who makes $100k+ a year, well-respected reg nurse

he told us “there will come a time where none of you will have homes”. apparently his daughter was barely able to even start scraping together money for a down payment

My mom is somewhat like this, she knows everything is difficult nowadays but she thinks moving to a cheaper area is some magical solution for everything and doesn’t consider that those areas have problems and pay less, well sick of hearing that by now.
