But then my dad was saying I could probably get it all back when I move out…
So what’s the point?

That’s just reducing the amount I can invest in index funds and throwing money down the drain:feelsree:

Apparently it’s up to me to decide how much
Ok, £0 then?

If I have to pay, imma get them to set up a trading 212 account and invest it

just larp all ur money is automatically funneled into a pre-tax investment account so all u have left is for living expenses

Do they actually understand that you’re investing everything you make?

To their generation that would just look like you being broke / “wasting money” because you are not moving out, buying status symbols etc

I’ll try and at least get an investing account set up where I “pay” it into
They were insistent on me moving out after uni before, but that was 1.5 years ago, so this isn’t terrible, albeit stupid

You’ll get it all back anyway. Use the opportunity to teach them about investing, compounding gains, etc if they’re unfamiliar and you can try to start some generational wealth.

I’m not moving out and paying £800+ a month on rent when I can live with them and basically live for free

then negotiate and do what they say if the law says nothing about rent etc.

in that case they're your deity slave owners

Rent, council tax, bills, food… probably closer to £1200 and that’s living like a dog. I’ve been there and done that and ended up in an LTR just to try and defray cost.

At this point in my life I rather live with my parents than with a girl I don’t really like and who doesn’t really like me. But that’s another subject on “the mutual dissatisfaction of dating as MTN and below”

I think £1800 or something after tax
Idk I never check my wage slip tbh
Sorry but if you haven’t paid rent by now and you’re earning this much you’re shameless AF

Personally I worked out a deal with my parents to live with them long term rent/utilities free, so long as I pay for everything else. Comes out to 1500/mo (200 is a stupid student loan repayment). The rest goes toward muh surgeries bro

How is it 1300 without rent or bills?

Health insurance
Car note and insurance and gas
Phone bill and data bill
Groceries
Toiletries + skincare + hair loss meds
The occasional fast food and alcohol binge :feelskek:
I probably spend like £200
