We are only for one subject in class together. He’s a white guy in his 50s, seems to be right-leaning. He’s like 6’4”. He’s said some “insensitive” things in class before that pissed off the liberals in my class, he seemed like your typical PVV voter (PVV is a right-wing, anti-immigrant, anti-Islam party).

This guy would never want to strike a conversation with me or vice versa if we were two strangers outside of university.

For some reason, I seem to have earned his respect? He called me intelligent and shook my hand. I don’t know why he thinks I’m intelligent, I never said anything that would make me come across that way. I stay quiet in class.

Anyway… Feels nice to be a brown guy liked by a white “racist” even in real life.

Nah, it’s ok- I just noticed Americans are always saying this stuff, they think university/college is only for late teens/early 20s folks. My classmates all work jobs on the side, they have established careers but wanted to get into the same field as me (teaching).

People start off looksmaxxing for others but then later on some start realizing they actually like doing what they’re doing, and then they do it for themselves. Take my best friend for example, he started working out because he thought that’s what women found attractive and after some time, he now genuinely likes working out, it’s his biggest stress reliever. Personally I don’t care about looking good to others, like I won’t go out of my way to make that happen (by looksmaxxing). Now I’m going to start working out but that’s only because I want to get rid of this excess fat. I wasn’t supposed to be a fat slob, I was always skinny for my entire life. It’s only since the 2020s that it changed, in my mid-twenties.

I’m not Indian, South Asian =/= curry. They mainly dislike Islamic people, and since I’m brown they automatically associate me with being Islamic (which is right, though). It’s MENA people here who get profiled by the cops. Blacks are way more accepted than MENA people are because they blend in with western culture more easily, they don’t hang onto their own culture unlike MENA/SA people. I can’t recall cops stopping any blacks, but I’ve seen them stop many Moroccans.
