My shirt still smells like curry after 7 months

It all started with cooking in school and i started putting alot of curry in my chicken soup. I accidentally dropped some curry in my shirt and the smell has been stuck forever despite being washed multiple times. Because of this i obviously use it only as a training shirt to sweat on now but why doesnt it stop smelling like curry?

And no, its only the shirt not my body or other clothes
