If dark black then it means you may have some bleeding in your GI tract, fix your diet or get it checked if persistent.

If black and sometimes yellow, lay off the fast food/fatty food.

If black and hard, eat wholefoods only and supplement some fiber for awhile.

If you have excessive hemorrhoids, and this problem persists, get it checked out, or if you have gastric reflux along with these.
