assume there’s an all knowing all powerful god, assume there is an afterlife, that he created the world, that he is watching over all of us, etc

There is ZERO verifiable evidence or anything resembling evidence to prove that said god, cares for you, loves you, has x thought or belief.

Essentially, let’s say there was a god, in its current state they’re essentially nonexistent. If they live beyond space and time, obviously humans can’t interact with such a thing, so it’s pretty equivalent to him not existing at this current point in time.

So I ask a question to members of organized religion, why do you follow said religion. I can certainly rationalize believing in the existence of a higher power, I can’t really understand why you wouldn’t just be agnostic, aside from “that’s how I was raised”/ environmental pressure

okay so for me very simple. I follow Christianity because God has always been present in my life. It's the same reason why you are on this forum right now. It's why you believe in :blackpill: Philosophy. It's anecdotal and it can be backed up with science and anecdotal evidence

For me God has always been present in my life so I follow him because I get a sense of peace, a sense of calmness, and a sense of purpose. My identity is in Christ and I believe that the rules and the laws in the Bible are set to protect me. I feel like it only does a positive thing to me

I think from almost every other metric being a degenerate is always going to be net negtive I'm not sure what you really care about but I know there's a lot of people who care about things like geopolitics. Almost every metric of being religious will always outlaw being a degenerate

There isn't a single positive attribute that being a degenerate can actually lead to. It doesn't lead to a good soyciety neither does it help anyone so if you ask me why I'm personally religious, it's because it completes my life but then again don't get me wrong, this isn't a form of coping.

Because when you become religious, it's going to feel like the most intense love you've ever experienced in your life. You're going to get this joy and peace like you've never gotten before

But after some time you're going to develop strong feelings against yourself and your old life and your habits. You're going to become harsher with yourself. You're going to recognize how much of a failure you become. So being religious is awesome but actively following it is difficult but I know I'm doing it for the right reason

I'm not going to try and be harsh on you. I'm going to be trying my best to be really respectful but there's over two thousand years of history. You can't say they were indoctrinated because Jesus Christ has over twenty five thousand manuscripts, I believe.

Whereas, say, someone like Julius Caesar only has roughly about 10,000 manuscripts Jesus Christ being one of the most documented human beings on this earth

I mean just flipping over a Bible and reading it from an intellectual standpoint, you could realize that Jesus Christ is a real man of honor, religious or not. Becoming theosis, which is becoming like Christ, having Jesus Christ being a role model even if you don't see him as God, which he is. If you see him as a human being, he is quite literally one of the best role models that we have ever seen in our entire life

The fact that I get to call that man Father or even God is a real blessing. The fact that that man has taken care of me and I just thank God every day for every breath, for every time he wakes me up in the morning

I'm not a perfect man and I'm kind of ashamed of the things I've said on this forum and some of the things I've done in my life but I'm hoping that he's still working in me and working in my heart

Like I said there's so much history out there. I appreciate the answer and the question but at the end of the day you're better off asking someone in real life, I go into a local church or people of the Bible yourself. There are so many more people who are far more intellectual about this than me but I respect the answer and forgive me if I've gone for a little bit tangent

For one, you didn’t really address my main point which actually relates to your response. You say god has been present throughout all your life, and I believe you may wholeheartedly believe this, and maybe there has been “signs”. But how can you attribute this to a specific god (Jesus christ)? Other than the Bible of course, which is certainly a historical document. And of course I agree Jesus was indeed a man, that’s a fact.

But is there anything further other than the documentation of this person that he is the one you call god? He can’t and doesn’t speak to you, you can claim god is present in your life but there’s no way to attribute any traits to this said god considering he doesn’t communicate with you or anyone from that matter.

If you want to say that there’s no proof and that it’s just pure faith and belief I can’t argue against that

I would make this case that God is actively speaking to everyone if you drop down your ego and you actually say, "Hey God, I want to have a conversation with you." Because I think people approach God with this attitude of "Well God, I want it my way." Like you don't go to your landlord or your mother and demand a brand new iPhone or or you wouldn't go to your boss and demand a pay rise.

With God I believe that he is speaking to everyone who wants to openly have a conversation with him. If you ask him, "Hey God," if you pray to him and say, "I wanna have a conversation with you," and you just listen, he may not speak but he will reveal himself. When you ask and you pray, "Hey God," just simply say, "I wanna have a conversation with you." I want you to reveal himself to me I can almost guarantee you he will definitely talk to you.

So for me personally I'm in constant communication with God and it's not religious psychosis
maybe there has been “signs”. But how can you attribute this to a specific god (Jesus christ)? Other than the Bible of course, which is certainly a historical document. And of course I agree Jesus was indeed a man, that’s a fact.

of course there's faith but do you have faith in other things? You're most likely sat on a chair whilst reading this. It doesn't matter what inanimate object you're sat on. The point is you're hoping that that doesn't collapse. When you go and sit down you are hoping it doesn't break. When you get on a bus you are hoping that this bus doesn't crash or blow up. You have faith that you will get from point A to point B. That is faith

So practically with anything in any metric of life, you will have faith in anything. If you have a backpack, you are hoping that backpack doesn't fall off your back. Look I can go all day with these examples but everyone has faith in something. It's just that you choose to have faith so of course there's faith but there's also evidence. Once again if you sat on a chair before, likely that chair is not going to break again.

The church, Christianity, has over 2,000 years of history. You can go back. You have got several more educated people who can articulate and have been through this walk and

Let's even look at the disciples. I know cult members die all the time in suicide and other things but through the eleven disciples that Christ had, through thousands of years of people being persecuted for their faith, they all died for something and I don't worship a dead man. I don't want to talk about other religions because I think they're irrelevant to this case. I can if you want me to but once again Christ is the only religion that he got resurrected from. Saint Paul says that if Christ is not risen, that his work has been for nothing. If Christ doesn't resurrect, I worship a dead man but I don't worship a dead man. I worship a man who defeated death and rose again.

And again almost no historian or any person in practically any field doesn't deny things like the Crucification or even the Resurrection. Even if they do, they're sceptical of it but they don't outright deny it lol

Once again let's not forget that Christ literally split time in half. He's the only person to do that because before Christ came we used BC and AD. BC was before Christ and then AD is Anno Domini which stands for the years of the Lord

So once again no other religion has split time in half like Christ has. There's evidence outside of the Bible. Of course there is because for the time being you still have the Old Testament and five of the first books of the Old Testament are the Torah. They still have the Torah but for a long time they didn't have a Bible. People were worshiping, people were evangelizing before they had the Greek manuscripts and not everyone read Greek, not everyone read aramaic

Once again if you tag me, I'm open to answering more questions but for the time being you're welcome to go ahead and do your own research. The best research you can do is, of course, online but I would strongly encourage you to check out a local church. Maybe even pick up a Bible and start in the Gospels. Mark is the shortest
