i’ve been using tretinoin for around 4 years. i started out with 0.025%, used 0.05% when my skin got really bad, and started using 0.025% once my skin got better. here’s some advice and info.
my experience:
i had really bad acne and pimples on my forehead and lots of scars on my cheeks. i got benzoyl peroxide gel & tretinoin from my doctor and began using it every two days, switching to daily within a couple of weeks i believe. after 2-3 months of consistently using both as well as maintaining a healthy diet, my skin was almost completely clear. i stopped using them for a few months and then started again, this time not experiencing much purging. been using both daily since. they help my scars and pigmentation and obv pimples, but i’m also using the murad spot treatment 3x a day and la roche posay acne cleanser. during winter my skin gets super flakey and dry, so i just stop using the spot treatment as often until dryness subsides.
dryness & irritation
i’ve tried several things for my dryness throughout my tretinoin journey, but i found the la roche-posay cicaplast b5 balm to work best. ig if you don’t have oily skin vaseline or aquaphor could work, but they can clog pores so be careful.
if you have any questions feel free to ask. sorry this is lowkey messy
