Starting off in the Light Heavyweight division, Bogdan Guskov vs Jan Blachowicz.
JAN BY SUB or UD.
The former champion isn't nearly washed yet, being able to keep up with the division's top talent. Guskov was getting out grappled comfortably by regional short-notice signees, completely relying on his power against unathletic sloppy fighters. Jan is a monster on the ground, good offensive wrestling, and simply just has too much experience. You can't convince me that Guskov can do what Pereira or Ulberg have failed to. Jan arguably beat both of those fighters named and "Polish Power" should surely cruise to a dominant decision or submission.
Next, we move onto the bisexual striker Payton Talbott getting the step up against "Triple C" Henry Cejudo, former Gold Medal Olympian and double champion in the UFC.
CEJUDO BY DEC (UD)
Henry Cejudo is simply going to take Talbott down and hold him there, maybe getting some minor ground and pound, but not much else. Talbott is coming off a good win, but his fight against Raoni Barcelos where he got outwrestled by the vet is not far in the past. Cejudo is one of the most accomplished wrestlers to step into an octagon, not just a former Brazilian national team member like Barcelos. No matter what you say, he is still Henry Cejudo and the blueprint has already been set out against Talbott. Wouldn't be overly surprised if Talbott snipes him, but I think Cejudo has this one.
Next, a potential title eliminator in the flyweight division between the former champ Brandon Moreno and surging Japanese prospect Tatsuro Taira.
MORENO BY DEC
Moreno's grappling is underrated and his BJJ pedigree nullifies any submission offense from Taira. He is also incredibly active and would be very hard to hold down. Taira is going to get pieced up on the feet, find some mild success with the takedowns, but ultimately get outstruck by the former champ to win by decision. Moreno is going to show levels. The truth is, Taira isn't on par with the division elite such as Pantoja, Van, Moreno, and Rovyal.
Next, we have the flyweight title bout between a living legend in the "Cannibal" Alexandre Pantoja, as he takes on the biggest flyweight prospect in the past decade, Joshua Van. I've trained with Josh before and we're on a first name basis. When I was younger, I was aware of his rise on the regional scene, and his takedown defense is something that has stuck with him all throughout. He comes from a great camp that has a shit ton of up and coming guys.
All that being said
PANTOJA BY SUB
Van is a future champ and it is incredibly impressive he is already competing for his first title at the young age of 24. However, despite my personal connections to him and the fact I've always rated him so highly, Pantoja is a fucking animal. He's approached every contender with the same brutal pedigree of BJJ, genuinely fighting like he's the challenger. He stays hungrily active throughout the fight.
Throughout the build up of this fight, he's been treating Van respectfully in almost a passing of the torch way. It's clear that he also rates Van highly, but Van's going to have to wait his turn. This is the greatest flyweight of all time, arguably, and it'll show.
MERAB BY DEC
Nothing to really say here. Merab is one of the greatest to do it and he is a freak. Over 5 rounds, Yan is going to tire out and get dominated. The same recipe, the same result. It doesn't help Yan has a habit of losing the first round in order to "read" his opponent. This is a really easy pick.
A FIGHT YOU SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR
Fares Ziam vs Nazim Sadykhov
Both these guys are fucking ANIMALS and bring the violence. I think whoever wins may get a ranked opponent. I've trained with Nazim before at Syndicate MMA and he is a BEAST.
