Back in the 90s the rules regarding travel allowances and buisness expenses in corporate used to be very lax and my uncle was working for an MNC. He would by default get a 5 star suite but he didn't care about it. So he would cancel the booking and book a room in some cheap motel and pocket the difference. He would say. I don't care for the fancy decorations, swimming pool and overpriced food. Just give me a cozy bed, warm water, a TV and a clean bathroom and I don't care.
