It can be explained using this image:
You know, I came to a realization earlier. The insect in the Metamorphosis book is myself. In the book, Gregor’s whore sister cannot be herself and succeed until Gregor is dead. He was a burden on his entire family and was subhuman. His transformation into an insect and his inability to speak or explain himself is basically his subhumanity consumed him. He was a sludgy stain on everyone’s life and they felt like telling him “we’d be better off if you were dead”.
And when he died, everyone was happy. He was a subhuman. He was unworthy.
