Speak some more, record your voice reciting a poem, or a famous monologue.

he forgot arabic after rotting for too long apparently
I caged so hard at this thread where he tried to convince me he was fluent in French and Russian at the age of 12 despite being a little kid at school and probably never watched any foreign media. Just imagine how cute he was. this Lebanese kid with his puffy cute cheeks trying to speak Russian fluently. daah, dahhh ogga bogga russian. the fact that he's serious about this too is very alarming to me.

I can understand a lot from other languages and reading texts online but I won't say I know it, where to draw that line is arbitrary anyway

Based answer. 'Fluent' is such a meme word, I hate it. If people doesn't mistake you for a Native, you need to practice more.

His accent really sounded belgian but mirin his dutch was very decent.
Accent doesn't really reflect your understanding of the language anyway. some people learn Languages mostly by reading which would fuck up their pronunciation (they would make up their own sounds instead of copying) If you watch TV in your target language all day than you can expect a pretty good accent over time but who has the will for it. If people mistake you for an American online (writing) you're good enough. or you can understand most things (like 98%) also dutch is closer to him so no surprise here.

indeed being able to express yourself is much more important unless you have a meme accent like indian or something

You can try shadowing if you want to improve your accent in any language. Just watch some Native dude on youtube and mimic him for 20min everyday in real time. also listening more. reading is good for vocabulary but bad for accent because when you meet a new word you're most likely going to fuck it up instead of using the correct sound = Turn into habit.

yes and learning some basic phonology, I didn't understand that s and z were different sounds because the z sound doesn't exist in swedish so I couldn't hear the difference

well according to yourself arab is a shitskin language not worth knowing
I wanna know Russian tbh. they probably have tons of obscure interesting stuff online + Good books. since I'm not a prodigy like @Baldingman1998 who master it at the age of 12, It could take 5/6 years of mad work..not worth it. better invest in my english and take it to a native tier.

Good point. foreigns who try to learn Japanese for example would never have a good accent because there's a thing in Japanese called 'Pitch accent' which doesn't exist in English or Korean for example, guess dutch too. So if you learn Japanese but aren't aware about this phenomenon you brain would just pick it up like it picked your Native language, without Pitch = Shit accent. same thing for different languages with different sounds. as a baby you over time block the sounds that aren't relevant (doesn't exist in your native tongue) which can hurt you if you try to learn a new Language in the future. it's not a bug but a feature, it's good for mastering your own tongue but bad for being a polyglot.

Chinese isn't a language. it's the common name of couple of languages (Mandarin) Yue (Cantonese), Xiang (Hunanese), Min dialect, Gan dialect, Wu dialect, and Kejia or Hakka dialect. they're all different and if you know 1 you wouldn't necessarily know the other.
