I know, I know, VERY risky of us exposing xim to other peoplx without being fully vaccinated and double boosted but the little bugger was chewing through xer arm and leg restraints with excitement at the thought of meeting someone other than my wife, her boyfriend and I. We were all masked, of course we were, and had xer Grandbirthing persons stand behind a thick, airtight, translucent sheet of plastic we had hanging over the front doorway to keep all parties safe.
I literally felt my boosted heart warm and skip several beats as the little tyke crawled towards their Grandbirthing persons, xis atrophied legs dragging behind xem like dead tree branches. Clutching my chest with one hand and gripping the kitchen counter for dear life with the other, I watched with tears in my eyes as xe/xim hugged the plastic as the Grandbirthing persons held each other, trembling with love and joy at the blurry, smeared cherub face staring up at them uncomprehendingly through the plastic.
I looked at my watch and, noticing the Grandbirthing persons had exceeded their daily two minutes of time outdoors, grabbed my broom and gingerly bashed the plastic safety curtain with it. "Away with you," I laughed nervously, trying to keep the whole thing light for the crotch-goblin's sake but failing to keep the raw panic out of my voice, "fuck off back home now and watch Netflix before you catch your death!!"
As I feared, the whole familx has come down with Covid. I'm feeling flatter than my wife's chest and can barely move a muscle. The Grandbirthing persons are probably dead, we haven't rang them to find out but it's a safe bet they're both choking on ventilators right now next to a bunch of MAGA shit-heads taking up hospital beds that should be reserved for boosted folx like myself. My wife and her boyfriend have been confined to their bedroom and they've both been groaning and moaning like fuck for hours now. They're having a rough time of it, alright. The little selfish bastard who brought this plague down on us is suffering with a runny nose and mild cough, too, so we've booked xim to get vaccinated ASAP. Sadly, under 5's still can't get the jab for some insane reason here, so we've had to turn to a backalley doctor to do it on the sly for us. We're getting all four of xer injections done at the same time for maximum protection.
