The reason narcissism is helpful to IQ is because it actually has defense mechanisms against higher IQ Machiavellianistic manipulations from the environment.

IE, let’s say you set out a huge goal that would be deemed by the majority of the people, everyone will discourage you and tell you it’s impossible, if you innately have a lot of narcissism you’ll refuse to listen believing you are the best. Which improves your chances of succeeding, it also amplifies compliments you receive and minimizes criticism you receive, if the narcissism is grandiose in nature and not vulnerable.

And when speaking of Dark Triad, we refer to grandiose narcissism.

Indeed. It has been found that women are more attracted to narcissistic men, though such men are more likely to cheat on them, therefore they are not good partners for long-term relationships.

Narcissism comes with downsides, however. I say this as an actual narcissist, not as someone who's trying and failing to be one. It sucks that my brain wants social validation all the time. It sucks that I need to be complimented on every day or else I feel like I'm useless. It sucks that I have an inflated ego when I have accomplished so little. Sometimes it'd be nice to perceive people as my equal, and not act and think in a condescending, bad-natured way like women do (See? Did it again).

Just believing you are the best, won't get you anywhere. It's better than having no confidence though.

Narcicism preventS you from self reflection and thus growth with experiences. To a point you are seen as stubborn and retarded.

Be objective, have confidence, and work for it.


Both my parents are narcicist, grandioso type, but my Mom is a bit vulnerable to criticism sometimes.

They think they are the best. That they can do anything, but me with my logical mind know thats not real and watch them fail. And also think theyre stubborn and retarded.
