Say a 8 normal sized teeth show up in a relatively wide palate, if the teeth are now smaller, around 10 would show up on the same palate.
Bigger teeth take up bigger space and smaller teeth take up smaller space, and hence have more space for more teeth to show up.

Idk if that makes sense.

Idk, sounds kinda true tbh. I measured my intermolar distance to be around 54-55mm which is relatively wide, but only 8/9 teeth show up when I smile. And yea, my teeth are big.
