Nah Nature wants to see if your worth being sexually successful. Life is like a game/competition, some overcome their weaknesses and win, some dont have the resolve/intelligence to do so.

id say that it is more of a spectrum between 1 and 2 where the closer you are to max breeding potential more aspects of life are transient whereas the closer you are to 1 everything is seen as worthless
