If we look at the numbers, it's actually the Allied which suffered brutally. Here's the death statistics for the Allied (the U.S., the U.K., the Soviets) and the Axis (Germany, Japan, Italy) during WW2.

Didn't they obliterate the Chinese as opposed to the Koreans? What nukes did was create a new power balance in the world, a dynamic that the world had never seen before. It's why the Americans tried their best and still try their best to stop others from developing nuclear weapons. Pakistan has nuclear weapons too, but only because India created it before us. Just like the 1940s, it was the new power balance that was the reason behind it. And ultimately, it was for the greater good in Pakistan's case. Remember Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan? All these Islamic countries were invaded and occupied by the Americans. I recall reading about an American general who was asked why they didn't invade Pakistan unlike the other countries. His answer? "Because they have nuclear weapons." It is the ultimate deterrent. I think nobody should have nukes, but the fact we were spared from a cruel faith similar to the other nations I mentioned, I thank God that we have our nukes now.
Casualties are only one way to look at a war. You have to be blind to not see the foolishness in the strategy of trying to fight a three front war where one of the fronts was against the Soviets, a military who kicked their asses. According to your logic Soviets didnt kick Nazi ass because they suffered heavy casualties when Germany speared through USSR. But reality serves a different story. The Nazis couldnt finish what they started and were now the prey. We all know what happened next

You completely missed my point. I was pointing out the fact that the Allied had a much, much higher casualty list compared to the Axis (the official losers of the war). I found that surprising, because I was expecting the Axis to have a much higher death count.

That is true, they had a higher casualty count. The Axis had started multiple fronts in the beginning itself. They basically capitalised on the fact that they were untied from the start but the Allies had to collect their allies as and when the countries got invaded by Axis forces
