Near death experience (maybe)

This happened in june of 2025.

I was hiking with friends and we had to unexpectedly cross a snowfield.

In the last strech of it, (the shady spot that is marked with a circle in the pic below), idk exactly why anymore, but i remember slipping.

I only slid around 5 centimeters and instantly stopped, standing there as if nothing happened.

After i was standing on rock again, i realized that if i hadn't stopped, i would have slid all the way down the corn snow (frozen over with a hard surface due to the sun melting it during the day), accelerating and gaining more and more speed on the way down till i would have eventually stopped (very abruptly probably).

It doesn't look as steep as it was, because the slope is facing us from the angle of the picture.

This happened last year to people at the Zugspitze and their whole hands were basically smeared across the granular ice because they tried to self arrest.

It was REALLY FUCKING FUN tho!

yeah I mean hiking itself is a risky sport sometimes, good thing you got lucky

I would go hiking more often but I don't have the time yk
