I failed an exam in school and now they aren't letting me take further maths A level.

This leaves me with 2 options:

Become a doctor / Get into finance

To get into finance, like IB or something, I would need to study FM outside of school, meaning 5 AS levels and 4 A levels.

To get into medicine, I've already chosen maths bio chem and im thinking abt an easy essay based subject.

Medicine (low paid in the uk) VS Finance (relatively high paid)

Is 5 AS levels and 4 A levels worth it and doable?

You want career help. A career in the uk is no career. Money is useless if you can't be happy with it.

Also id recommend finance as anything medical unless its passion sucks

most ppl here who work are fucking depressed out of their minds. if u get on trains early in the morning the average worker u see here is lifeless staring into whatever

Yes maybe not in the corporate world but that doesn't matter when you are walking down the street and get stabbed.

As for japan I've visited and I can certainly say the big cities in japan are out of this world.
Not in the chinese way of very expensive shit with lights and stuff but as in there are so many things you can't get/do anywere else.
It also has accommodations for any single person (as in whatever you want its possible)

However the industrial smaller cities are kinda gloomy but otherwise its very nice

That might be true as I've only really been a tourist in japan not a worker.

Who says you need Further Maths for IB? Or 4 full A-Levels?

Just do 3 A-Levels, get A or A* in 2 of them, then study finance/econ at Uni.

If you want to become a Quant Trader/Analyst, or Data Scientist, then further maths is probably needed, and you'd need to study Maths at Uni too.

LSE and cambridge call fm a desirable subject for an econ degree

with cambridge they had a crazy stat like 90% of the people studying took fm and econ

I see, it wasn't like that when I went to uni. Shit just gets tougher each year it seems.

You can still make it into IB without going to LSE/Oxbridge, btw. I know a guy who did Accounting and Finance from Hertfordshire Uni, now he's a VP at Goldman Sachs. He did a grad scheme at a well-known bank for Internal Audit, then joined GS.

You could also go down the FS route, going into Audit/Taxation at the Big 4. Those don't require you to be a maths genius either, and the pay/work-life balance is decent. From there, you can take your knowledge over to IB and work for one of the giants there.

If you're gifted at Maths though, then by all means go for Further Maths. I just wanted to tell you that it isn't the be all and end all.

Yeah but it seems like this route is way too competitive and I feel like I can get into a target uni if I want to, it's just subject selection. But fair play to the guy.

Yeah, but in my ideal world, I get an internship and eventually a full offer to work in an IB cuz hopefully I end up at a target uni , like LSE, which I think is a shorter and more ideal route then slaving away in the big 4 for a bit.

Yeah im pretty decent at maths, so I guess I'll just study it outside of school, no harm in doing so tbh, worst case I drop it.

Thanks for the help though

The UK is a second rate power these days. You'd earn as much money in Slovenia, and they at least have hot women. Move to one of your former settler colonies for an immediate 2x on you income, or 4x if you chose the US

Maybe for medicine

Traders and investment bankers are different

Also quants make the ai and shit im pretty sure

The average doctor here gets paid the same as a train driver I think and the 6 years of uni and slow salary progession isn't worth it imo

Try getting into investment banking in an economy where that's the only proper high pay carreer. London banking is on the downturn since 2008 and it's also just ridiculously competitive

With the number of vegans and malnutrition and diseases growing up earlier u would never get short of work, we are talking about actual brained humans drinking coke for water intake in 2025, but u can still choose to become a surgeon dentist in Mexico

It's not really the competition that scares me tbh

I'm relatively smart and I feel like if I work my ass off I'll be fine

I have so many extra and super curriculars which I've planned and some I've already done.

I'm 16 and I've also begun networking and stuff too

They are completely different careers with completely different skills.

For medicine, you’ll need to do the UCAT, do interviews, and have solid work experience.

For top finance jobs, you’ll need to go to a very strong uni, also have work experience and for STEM courses, they’ll probably want FM.

The good thing is studying further maths yourself isn’t too hard because it builds on your knowledge from regular maths.

yeah which is why I need to make up my mind rn

I've basically decided already tbh and I'll self teach myself FM.

I'll aim to finish normal maths within this summer holiday, with an extra month more at the latest because I have some time in between work experience.

Hopefully it'll relieve stress in school for normal maths

straight nines and 3 a stars will not get u rejected from lse unless u have an incorrect subject combo, very very shit interview or something like a criminal record

lazy low iq nigga doesnt know about work ethic
aspiring to be a wagecuck
a wagecuck making 6 figures a year sounds pretty good to me. ur brainwashed into thinking ur gonna be able to escape the cycle while rotting on org + I have my own shit going and even if i hypothetically do make a few million from a SaaS project im working on, I will still go to uni so that I have a foundation if everything goes wrong.

I'm not gonna throw my future away in the hopes that I make a million dollar business before 18

holy fucking delusional how ironic calling me low iq when 1) you failed your maths test 2) making retard assumptions about me rotting on org 3) thinking that your plan is set in stone 4) thinking that 6 figures is worth it whilst working 80 odd hours a week. "yeah bro ill just save for the future 🤓" with a limp dick and 0 test

Answer these questions

Age? Net worth? Yearly Salary? Country?

you failed your maths test
Maths tests that firstly I didn't study for, secondly my maths tests are completely off-spec because I go to a highly selective school.
limp dick and 0 test
who's making retard assumptions now :lul: Also this has no correlation ur just spewing ur mind cuz ur low iq

17, no "yearly salary" cus im not a coping wagecuck but i probs play w ur mothers monthly salary in shitcoins :lul: Failed your maths test at a "selective school" That’s even worse. You just admitted you had the resources, teaching, and pressure and still did shit jfl. Chronic Stress → Elevated Cortisol → Lower Testosterone → limp dick = 0 hoes. keep grinding for that cortisol salary king

lol the irony is genuinely making me cringe. really reinforcing the retardedness in you, im just here to give u the truth not to feed ur delusions which youre clearly coping with and tagging ur pajeet friend is even worse :lul:

pinning test doesn't turn you into a Chad, pajeet, it turns you into a slave to exogenous hormones. ur balls literally shrink, your natural test production tanks, and you're locked into weekly injections for life unless you want to suffer post-cycle crash and ED from actual hypogonadism.

See you in 20 years , probably not though, youll be the guy emailing his GP about why his testicles feel like raisins. and your gonna be on prozac cus ur pajeet "co founder" of ur fantasy land company ghosted you for a Tier 2 visa:lul:

nigga ur talking about irony when u trade memecoins

im trying to build a successful future and ur trading shitcoins and running ur mouth about test

if ur gonna be successful ur gonna encounter stress. is ur argument to be as lazy and ambitionless as possible so that u dont spike cortisol?

Your ‘irony’ comment doesn’t even make any sort of logical sense, ur mixing up trading memecoins with some grand life philosophy. I had the same millionaire dreams through online bs at 14 but dw youll grow out of it.

natural test promotes competition and drive, but thinking picking 5 alevels or whatever the fuck just kills your hormones and ambition long-term which is simply counter productive. its not about being "lazy" which i never even mentioned or suggested once, its ab working smarter and not attempting to please ur pajeet parents through countless hours of revision, rotting in ur bedroom whilst larping as some sort of academic alpha jfl.
