Need hair advice

I can either: cut my hair now to look better OR stick with growing it out and be unsatisfied long term

I currently have a 'mod' hair cut so like long with bangs on my forehead, however I want really long straight hair like a metal band member because I plan to nichemaxx to pull goth chicks but there would be a lot of ugly phases and would take around 2-4 years of hair growth

Or I could cut it right now as im leanmaxxing to look NT as its only neck length so it would only set me back a year but it would be a short term solution to a bigger problem
