need help consulting ortho

i am abt to be 18 and my ortho seems to think they are gonna fix my overbite with bite guards and rubber bands
since my bones are abt to be fused I don't know if this will even work, how do I tell her that I care more abt my
overbite then teeth alignment bc its causing my low jaw to be recessed without sounding like an autist. And also
ask about what devices are possible rather then rubber bands, or MB orthodontic surgery if that's a better option
atp, don't know what to do.

i'm pretty sure you are describing deep bite not overbite but i'll say that this type of treatment is ok but they don't resolve the main issue (pallate is not fully developed) they shouldve offered you a pallatal expander (specficially MSE but don't think your orthodontist has it they will probably give you a hyrax) bite guards are obviously required because when you bite down you might bite and break the brackets that means you have a deep bite, ur jaw wont be recessed if you're gonna wear rubber bands so far these treatments are valid anyways if you are shy to talk about this stuff then say that you study orthodontics as a hobby and im you are well informed about this topic u should be open about this they are not gonna shame u for it.

if that's you in your profile picture then that means u have a jaw recession possibly a deep bite ortho will fix your jaw recession can you fully put your tongue to the roof of your mouth without the molars obstructing it? is your mouth in a v-shape rather than a u-shape? if yes then they will give you a palate expander no matter what and since ur bones are about to get fused they will offer you a hyrax instead of a screw, the cause of this is bad posture
