Never owned portable acs. All mine are window air conditioners, which are fairly cheap used. I'm assuming your house has central air conditioning where one system controls the entire house instead of individual ones in each window like many older places have?

Not sure if a window ac woild work on mine tho my windows u have to spin a rod so the window cranks outwards
