Ive been wearing rubber bands for my overbite for the last 8 months and I noticed that It really didnt help fix my overbite and rather just recessed my maxilla. I have stopped wearing them for like 2 weeks now and had the plan to ask my doctor if I could swap my rubber bands out for forsus/herbst appliance. However recently Ive been getting a lot of tiktoks of people hating on herbst appliance specifically saying that you should wear your rubber bands or else you will be punished with herbst appliance. I do not understand what they do not like about it for me it seems optimal for perfect jaw development during puberty.

You were probably already recessed

your jaw is gonna halo hard asf, however, for the period you wear it, your maxxilary growth is cut in half…
speaking from personal experience
oh and bottom of cheeks near lips are gonna have dimple looking indents

What u are saying sounds very logical. Can u elaborare further on what u mean with dimple looking indents? Provided a pic. Do u mean these lines next to ur lips or is that just due to recession? They make me look 10x more recessed then I already am. Are they permanent/is there a way to make them fade?

Vollufiline could. But the reason I said that was from my personal experience, its not noticeable to others but its noticeable in certain shadows. Its from the appliance itself, the way it pushes slightly outward on your cheek and leaves a indent in some. I 100% would take the tradeoff tho because my jaw halo is pretty wicked.
