One of my favorite underrated generals from early modern period is Villars.
He fought Prince Eugene and Marlborough to a bloody draw at Malplaquet(1709) snd soundly defeated Eugene at Denain 3 years later.

Anybody else love learning about 16th-18th century warfare?
I think pike and shot period is kino too.

Any other generals or battles from this period i should learn about?
