Dopamine is an essential neurotransmitter that greatly benefits us in terms of survival through its effect on motivation. However, it also has effects on testosterone and growth hormones.

Low to moderate dopamine = BOOST IN TEST AND GROWTH HORMONES

THEREFORE - Ensure dopamine is maxxed out. Remove stress. Occasional nicotine, caffeine and sugar are actually beneficial to spike dopamine and reduce cortisol short term. It's the desensitisation to the receptors that nukes it, the oxidative stress damaging leydig cells, and cortisol increase over time.

In this study, when diazepam (which boosts GABA activity) was combined with L-dopa and apomorphine (which increase dopamine), it reduced the amount of growth hormone (GH) released.
This suggests that GABA can limit GH release by affecting dopamine. Normally, dopamine helps stop GH release, and by boosting GABA, diazepam seems to block dopamine's effect, making it harder for dopamine to stop GH from being released.
So the pathway is now this -
Diazepam → GABA-A activation → Reduction in Dopamine activity → Less dopamine inhibiting GH → GH ↑

The increase in GH from diazepam seems to be linked to GABA reducing dopamine’s inhibition on GH release, making it easier for GH to be secreted.


In humans, acute oral GABA administration elevates plasma growth hormone levels, while prolonged treatment blunts growth hormone response and enhances prolactin response to insulin induced hypoglycemia (Cavagnini et al., 1980)
Basically, over prolonged use of GABA, instead of releasing GH during hypoglycemic metabolic states (during fasting, after exercise etc), the balance shifts to more prolactin being released
