In my experience girls like anyone else can just randomly look at other people for no reason. But locking eyes is a universal sign of interest, and girls especially will most likely only lock eyes if they actually wanna be approached since this has probably happened other times

at first had the same reaction of just quickly looking away but have been lucky enough to have been approached by the girl making eye contact (because coincidentally her friend was in the same class) and she told me since I looked away from her she thought I had no interest

can’t say I’ve done cold approach before cause I do more warm but I will probably do it next week since a girl I like looks all the time and I only have 1 month till the year ends and I don’t see her again
