The Kraljevo massacre refers to the mass execution of the citizens of Kraljevo by German occupying forces in occupied Serbia in the middle of October 1941 during WW2. The executions took place in retaliation for insurgent activity in the area around the city, or rather in order to unblock the city through terror.
The massacre was committed by German soldiers of 717th Division of Wehrmacht.
This massacre had genocidal character due to German occupation rule to kill 100 Serbs for 1 killed German soldier, and to kill 50 Serbs for 1 wounded.
On that occasion, at least 2,190 Serbs (although there are reasonable doubts that the number goes up to 2.255) were killed in several days.
Among the victims were 80 Roma, as well as some Jews and several dozen Slovenian refugees.
Order for this monstrous crime was issued by German major Franz Böhme.

"Your task is to sweep through the country where in 1914, streams of German blood flowed due to the treachery of Serbs, men and women. You are the avengers of those dead. A terrifying example must be created for the whole of Serbia, which must affect the entire population."
- the order of the war criminal Franz Friedrich Böhme, the authorized commanding general in occupied Serbia
