75% of patients WILL need a facelift after infrazygo implants.

You MUST plan on it.

There is NO alternative.

You mean that it shines trough the skin, right?

A lucky minority will experience exclusively that issue. They can get away with doing exclusively fat grafts to solve it.

All patients should be sure to have enough money to do a midface lift after their implant!

Do
NOT get an implant without being prepared to need a midface lift after! Under NO circumstances! You have been warned!

I am not getting any implants in that region as it has the thinnest skin compared to the infraorbital region where muscles and fat are more present.

But yes, you should always have some money backing you up if anything goes wrong.

I agree. I am happy to share some good and economical (under 20k) midface lift surgeons for all those who are planning to get infrazygo implants!

Did you get one (or know someone that got one) and were the results good?

Yes I've seen a few!

The possibilities of ascension are crazy for those with a really big budget.

The reason is that many people with recessed bone structures, even who are young, have naturally low set soft tissues as well.

You put an implant in, the periosteum and fat pads do not sit on the new bone structure in a natural way. You end up with the bone structure of a handsome guy, but not the soft tissue drape of a handsome guy.

They must be manually lifted up.

The majority of implant surgeons today do not manually lift up the tissues as part of the procedure. This was de rigueur with Yaremchuk before his retirement.

It is especially necessary with PEEK implants which are more prone to reflecting light and exposing themselves than implants made of other materials if the soft tissues are not appropriately draped over them.

Anything short of a full-fledged subperiosteal, deep plane, or SMAS midface lift performed by a dedicated soft tissue specialist is UTTERLY insufficient
.

Under no circumstances should anyone entertain discussion of infrazygo implants without also discussing midface lifts. The two procedures MUST be viewed as IRREVOCABLY UNITED. Having an infrazygo implant without having a midface lift is like making a cake without flour. A veritable surgical umbilical cord attaches the infrazygo implant to the midface lift.

Great explanation, makes perfect sense.

should u be prepared for fat grafts and midface lift?

what about jaw implants? Are they fine if done alone?

No. Dehiscence of the masseter muscle is nearly always guaranteed. Its appearance can be reduced with fat grafts and/or Botox as well as keeping the implant as SMALL and CONSERVATIVE as humanly possible. However, this problem typically does not affect your looks as much as this issue with infrazygo implants does.

Please also consult the section on cheek implants in Michael Yaremchuk's Atlas of Facial Implants to learn more about the utter necessity of performing subperiosteal midface lift alongside all cheek implants!

I mean ofc it can be good, but its not necessary in many cases, it depends on how good elasticity you have before like you said. Face lift is probably needed if you are 30+ but not younger

No, it is still absolutely needed in young patients, if marginally less so. It is not sheerly a matter of skin laxity or elasticity, it is a matter of the way that soft tissue drapes on your skin due to the placement of ligaments and natural shape of your soft tissue envelope. And the place and shape of those things is reliant on your pre-existing bone structure. Even before aging sets in, soft tissues naturally sit more low on recessed faces than they do on projected ones. Cheek implant without a midface lift--to drape the tissues nicely over the new contour even if they have not sagged due to aging--is like eating raw chicken. Eating raw chicken without cooking it!

Dr. Yaremchuk did subperiosteal midface lift in ALL cheek implant patients, regardless of age. Dr. Rad says he does midface lift in 75% of cheek implant patients. I hereby propose to abolish the terms "cheek implant" and "midface lift" and combine them into a single word "cheekimplantmidfacelift" (or in German: Wangenimplantatmittelgesichtslifting) so that we can move out of the Dark Ages when people were able to even conceive of the idea of these procedures not having to always, without exception, go hand in hand.

It is an incredible procedure! One day, if I get a cheek implant myself, I will get the midface lift too.
