NEW RESEARCH FINDINGS

A somewhat recent study at Seoul National University has identified a previously unknown trait. Osteoblasts (Bone forming cells) secrete parts of their mitochondria to communicate with others cells. IE : NEW WAYS FOUND TO ACCELERATE BONE REGENERATION / CREATION

As these osteoblasts mature, their mitochondria undergo a structural change. Instead of the regular tube shapes, the mitochondria fragment and create a donut shape. This is a prerequisite for secretion. The secretion is regulated by the CD38/cADPR signaling pathway, activating this will increase the secretion and in turn boost bone formation.
IE : DONUT SHAPED MITOCHONDRIA IN OSTEBLASTS ARE THE KEY TO THIS

APPLICATION TO LOOKSMAXXING

Accelerated bone growth would be making recovery times on jaw surgeries much quicker, in turn allowing for surgeons to take much more risk, maximizing potential facial attractiveness with much less downside. Ex : A normal double jaw surgery using autografts (bone from patient) or artificial bone grafts will typically move the jaw 5-10mm. Using a secreted mitochondria soaked bone graft could allow for much more movement (15-20mm) because it would heal faster and stronger. This would turn a passive scaffold (bone graft) into an signaling device in the jaw, essentially recruiting other stem cells and accelerating their conversion into bone.

The image below is a photo of this accelerated regeneration in a mouse skull. PBS is the traditional method, Mito is the new method

This level of osteogenesis (bone growth) is remarkable, especially at 4 weeks post-op as shown in the image above. All research points to mitochondria derived vesicles accelerating bone growth and growing that bone stronger than it would be otherwise like nothing else.

TLDR : New methods for accelerating bone healing processes would allow for surgeons to safely move the jaw up much farther, allowing for better aesthetics

What a high iq post what a debut this is as your first post and since you just joined 2 days ago 🤦

interesting conclusion, don't know how it matches the hypothesis though
