like lets take these news websites for example: if they're free, then youre the product. they track you in the terms of service you just click accept on and that if you refuse then you dont get to read. they store your data whether its time spent per news thread, what news threads you click on and so on. data is so fucking important in this new generation as a business that even companies with paid products STILL store data. crazy no? I use data a lot in my agency cause without it I wouldn't know what the market thinks about my systems
