All potential theories for the efficacy of "bonesmashing" have been disproven, as for thumpullling well we have these little things called MARPE, SARPE, FME, and MSE which are desinged to expand the pallete. You need surgery or a device that constantly exerts force to split the midpalatal suture and acutally functionally expand the maxilla.
