You don't have to apologize. Most Polish/Russians/Baltics/Czech don't look like the gopnik or mongol meme. 1 out of 2 people over there is blond and blue-eyed, they dress well, tall. Their features are most of the time alright, and the brachy round head is not that common, it's as usual or even less than in central Europe. There are some differences with scandinavians, these mog but they are not too far away from each other.
Note that in Russia there are a lot of ethnicities, I specifically mean "white" european Russians.
Eastern countries are more homogeneous which is a huge plus for the general experience, because they were not very attractive places for foreigners although that is changing. Western country economies are falling and the cities of UK, France, Germany... look like a zombie movie.
Countryside can be really great depending on the place but in general the state of the countries is a disaster when compared to the decades ago Europe. So walking in some Polish city feels like paradise in comparison, as the streets look identical to German ones but without the trash and mainly having native light people.
EE is gray and pretty poor though don't think otherwise. But WE is falling down and things are getting equal.
