idk the entire mix sounded like it was blending together, too much high end causing it to phase a little bit and degrading the sound quality

yeah you want to mix good but things should still sound clean even before mixing

the distortion wasnt a good type of distortion it was more like very muddy and had an overcompressed sound to it
