when you get older, holidays naturally stop feeling as magical because you’re not seeing them through a kid’s perspective anymore

though it’s probably deeper than just growing up

it feels like there was an actual cultural shift around 2020 that changed the atmosphere of everything

hard to explain but it feels like everyone’s in a different era post 2020

kids don’t unfortunately, or at least the way they celebrate things now is completely different from what’s expected before

a lot of childhood experiences that used to feel almost universal don’t really exist in the same way anymore

instead of everyone going outside together, a lot of it happens online now or in smaller isolated groups

sometimes it just feels like another normal week with decorations attached to it

not really worse for everyone, just very different from how i imagined the future would look
