I've had a license for around 4 years now and was driving for close to 8 years (first 4 were just driving on rural roads for fun). Definitely good to have a license, but the government fees on cars and the rotten threat of cops robbing you sucks like crazy and I can see why it would deter others.

I know your thread ain't about this but I've gotta say it. Cops are among the most rotten bastards you'll meet in life. They know speed limits are too low and hide in areas of good roads to rake in money from tickets, which causes harm to good people for no reason other than government greed. Yet if you ever call them about a real crime, (like the three fucking times either our house, garage, or a machine was broken into/ slash parts stolen from) the cops will tell you to pound sand pretty much and won't even come to investigate most of the time even if you're almost certain who did it.

I have massive respect for emts/ paramedic workers and firefighters because they're real heroes, but cops are scum. When I see an ambulance or fire truck coming behind me with the lights on, I pull over happily and respect whatever mission they're on. When I see cop lights behind me, I know I'm about to get robbed over nonsense. If you ever get your license and are from America, watch out for chevy tahoes, ford explorers, ford tauruses, dodge chargers, and dodge Durangos, particularly in white, black, and Grey. These are very common cop cars. Sometimes they'll be marked with a light bar too, but many are unmarked. Either or also usually is equipped with a pusher bumper and spotlight on the side along with small hubcaps with cheap wheels. These are dead giveaways it's a cop car. You won't always see them in time especially if they're hiding in the bushes like low life ambush predators, but if you see cars like I described obey all the laws no matter how silly they are while you're near a suspected cop.
