Non-Violent Suture Splitting

A while back this video was uploaded to Mew's youtube channel. He insists that palatal expansion it possible at any age (!) without splitting the maxillary suture in a single, traumatic break. When I first heard this I was very surprised, as the consensus on here had been that this is impossible, but since then I have not seen any mention of this whatsoever! Is anyone aware of any further details? Has anyone attempted this?
