is it worth using nootropics for activities where you need your brain, but isn't studying?

I don't mean stimulants and or things that improve motivation.

Noopepts pretty nice for the mood regulation but you should dyor on it it has some potential issues

Of course it can be, hobbies, jacking off, memory recall can all be improved. Nootropics that improve memory can make you remember cringe stuff you did more clearly too though. Selegiline is a good nootropic that also has anti-aging, potential libido and memory recall benefits for ex. I noticed it made me less "rusty" at things I've not done in a while including playing video games. Some stop it though because they find the libido bit too annoying/distracting.

If your using nootropics to jack of its over :lul::lul:

in all seriousness, does selegiline not downregulate your dopamine receptors?

Hahaha well bit of a joke but that is a potential side-effect if you don't channel that energy into more constructive things or if you want to, chasing women(which many guys here seem to want to do). You can channel that energy into making more money or whatever instead.

And yeah anything that increases dopamine levels can downregulate receptors, but you got the higher dopamine levels to make up for it. It is not like the increase is massive anyway you just get a new bit boosted baseline sort of. But more importantly it protects your dopaminergic neurons from oxidative stress so you keep more of those intact as you age and "potential for dopamine production" higher long-term, more dopamine neurons that can actually respond to dopamine and fire from it and so on. And yeah in male rodent studies these effects are for life with their altered behaviours(more drive, higher libido/mounting rates, more offspring produced than even younger untreated rats, more active gonads etc) remaining intact/boosted until death, plus the lifespan extension.

Anyway it is a very low-risk nootropic at MAO-B selective dosages and I never noticed withdrawing from it or heavily lowering dosages did much or heard it much from other guys. It is not a super strong one either it just has some subtle effects and doesn't fit everyone, but I take it even just for the anti-aging and anti-neurotoxicity effects at this point.

That's what id like it for...

From that it sounds like it has the same "effect" as I strive from stims just less effective?

So correct me if im wrong, but shouldnt i just keep using stims...

Use both, selegiline boost stimulants so less dose might be needed or it will just boost the effects even more AND it protects from the dopaminergic neurotoxicity from stimulants. Pretty win-win. 👍

And yes it is miiiildly stimulating but not by very much, also you can even get tired in the beginning, it is kind of unique/weird how some can react to it. But stuff like caffeine and stimulants can otherwise be potentiated. It is also a CAE so it makes neurons release more catecholamines in response to activity ie catecholaminergic activity enhancer which very few other substances are(and super hard to get ahold of).
