I saw it in college when I lived in the dorms

people would "befriend" everybody in the same dorm hall, and would stick to the same people

were these people the best compatible people for each other? nope, they were just the most convenient option .. there's no way everybody placed into the same building just happens to be best friends for each other

true, thats also why theres a lot of backstabbing in those friend groups
