Egyptian mummy studies of DNA show that many ancient Egyptians were closely related to the people of the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East, a land today covering Jordan, Israel, Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. Some were undoubtedly sub-saharan black, though and It must have been quite diverse. I think the rulling class were probably likely to be arab in appearance, though and light brown rather than black.
