Retinoids such as Accutane and tretinoin can shrink the nose, as they shrink the large sebaceous oil glands in the nose, thus leaving a slimmer alar base (I think, i might be wrong.)

No, if you have a wide alar base, you cannot change that. You can "slim" your nose but that does not change its shape nor size, merely enhances the appearance by a slight bit.
