Not sure how people have a hard time quitting the forum

the problem is that forums in their nature can't be addictive like web-style social media

forums are a relatively healthy outlet compared to instagram, twitter, etc.
I guess you’re right; with how text-heavy a forum like this is, it’d be harder to emulate the addictiveness of an infinite feed with fast, stimulating visual content like on Instagram or TikTok. But to some extent it’s an advantage, there’s more space for productive discussion and utility, maybe we should capitalize on that.

Yeah those were good times. All my screenshots are on the old device which is broken down and fucked up. You remember s1n I think his name was and the user with comically narrow shoulders who people said looked like Ramirez.

He even posted his dick. On lookism. And harper? That fat femcel who looked like miss piggy?

It’s because unless you take a step back from social media or internet consumption as a whole it’s very hard to avoid the blackpill.

There’s a glow up trend on TikTok every week for example, Instagram is just a who’s-most-attractive contest and let’s not even talk about Tinder.

Or, you’d watch a movie instead but notice the leads tend to be attractive or browse through Spotify to listen to some music but notice the most successful artists tend to be good-looking— it’s everywhere.

Maybe to some extent people here exaggerate the implications of the blackpill but it does speak to a fundamental truth that most people outside these spaces don’t acknowledge which is how much physical appearance matters.

Even real life reinforces this belief more than not.

Ive noticed that I used to stop shitposting frequently whenever I was in a relationship. But still lurked while laying next to my ex. :lul:

How can we make this forum even more addicting? Those engagement numbers need to go up in 2025 :feelsping:
You know how YouTube shorts copied tiktok and it shows random short videos. Just put a randomized option to take you to a random off topic thread from 2018-2025

You have 2k posts in 2 months

You are one of us buddy 🤣
I’m certainly not addicted to it, I’d delete my account right now and never lurk the forum again. This forum genuinely takes over peoples lives somehow, not mine though.

The randomness in of itself isn’t enough, the threads aren’t as engaging as the shorts would be. It’s text vs. visuals.

Not to mention, YouTube has huge deposits of content on its platform so that the algorithm can very narrowly align the shown content with your interests, using its elaborate algorithm.

We have limited content, a lot of it which would be low-quality threads. Moreover, text’s inherently less stimulating and no such bespoke algorithm to speak of.

I think we’ve got to lean into our strengths and that’s the utility of a long-formatted text platform and the sense of community, which provides not only entertainment but actual practical advice and anecdotes.

Just how to improve on what we already have is the question. :feelswat:

Just something to kill the time when bored

This would make sense in a more intelligent society are trying to narrow it down so theres more high quality users or have more people in the platform which you may need to be more 'relaxed'.

Focus more on the rank and reputation system, when people feel appreciated and important they remain active

Great suggestion, actually. I forgot but from my years back in discord servers people really value their shiny titles and usernames. :feelsthink:
