Having to do that stuff to be accepted just means you're a beta. If you're confident and willing to impose on those who might not like you while doing "wierd things" (like, I don't know, carrying a blanket around with you everywhere you go) then people will be even more drawn to you.

Not giving a damn about the approval of others is infinately more attractive than appearing to fit in. Though it isn't something you can fake.
