Basically there's part of your brain that is made to replicate other people's behavior/thoughts/feelings/opinions. This is what I mean by permeability. Something new comes along and it just permeates your being and is immediately incorporated.

Joscha Bach touches on this concept here, except he refers to non-NTs as nerds. He says the reason normies communicate is to negotiate alignment. What he means is that they just get together and talk nonsense and their idiot normie brains calibrate themselves according to what other person is saying/how they're acting/how they feel about things. But the "nerd" thinks the purpose of communicating is to submit ideas for peer review, much like I'm doing right now.

I'm convinced it's a trade-off. The normie has a powerful subconscious. If you ever think about what goes into certain jokes it can be quite complicated, like they rely on all sorts of background information and attitudes towards this and that, and normies get the jokes almost immediately. And yet the same normies are incapable of understanding the simplest of ideas or figuring anything out on their own.

I think I started out NT and gradually got more and more non-NT as I aged. I was hyper-extraverted up until 8th grade, when I suddenly "contracted" social anxiety disorder or something. I have no problem reading people and shit. It's just I'm not permeable, like I resist absorbing other people. It's just repulsive to me to start using the phrase "oofy doofy."

No, but I'm weird as fuck. I've been going to the same climbing gym for like 5 years, 3+ times a week, and even though it's a very social environment, I haven't made a single acquaintance and people that do try to talk to me immediately get weirded out and never talk to me again. I mean, that place is probably filled with autists and I'm the only person like this. If someone who goes there saw this they would immediately know who I am.

You probably have a moderate amount of autism then. Many people who are autistic think they were nt when younger but they are mistaken, everyone was retarded socially, non cliquey and prepubescent back then so autistic behaviour was normal

The thing is, I don't think normies do it consciously. And I don't think it's just behavior. They always synchronize themselves to the emotional level of the group. And if you don't they will notice and they will not like it.
