I’m 19 and about to start my first Test cycle, but I’m trying to get my hair loss prevention figured out before I pin. Im sitting at around a NW2 with kinda pushed back temples and what i think are some baby hairs (which could be signs of hair loss) around the temples. Family history isn't terrible (dad thinned a bit later in life, grandparents kept decent hair), but I might have the genetic predisposition for hair loss. I'm already taking 2.5mg oral minoxidil daily.

Im considering whether I should hop on Dut now, or if nuking dht at 19 is going to mess with remaining dht benefits like voice deepening/ dick growth, fine with where im at but think its possible my puberty was slightly late and could grow more. I'm a bit hesitant to completely nuke systemic DHT right off the bat if I don't need to bc I might still have some gains left yk.

Was thinking about just running topical RU58841 on cycle to block receptors locally while leaving systemic DHT alone, and then only adding Dut if I notice aggressive shedding. But I've seen mixed opinions on whether RU is enough on its own, and Dut takes like 5 weeks to build up in your system anyway if shedding starts.

Would you guys recommend starting Dut right alongside the Test, or is starting with RU fine to assess how bad the cycle actually hits my hair? I dont wanna ruin my skin bc of dht aswell, but I have been on 20mg accutane which might help to slightly offset the test/dht effect, but may not be enough. Also curious if running 300mg/wk Test without a 5AR inhibitor for the first few weeks is enough to get some solid dht benefits before introducing the hair protection, plan to go to 500mg/week, but would this cycle not be high enough to warrant dut?

Appreciate any advice on how to structure this before I pin :Comfy:.

In my controversial opinion dht blocking is not the actual solution its more a bandaid on the issue but if you're going to live like a normie on a normie diet then yes you are going to need to block dht

I'm definitely locking in my diet and macros for this cycle, but hair loss is caused by follicle sensitivity to dht at the androgen receptor level. Even with a good diet, I think that the dht increase would hit those scalp receptors if you're genetically prone. But ty for the input

what lead you to this conclusion? and how are you sure that its not a byproduct of something else causing dht to interact with the hair in this way for a reason

male pattern baldness is literally defined as follicular miniaturization caused by dht binding to androgen receptors on sensitive hair follicles.

We know it's not just diet because of twin studies and research on guys with 5ar deficiency. Men who genetically lack 5ar don't convert test to dht, and wont go bald regardless of diet. twin studies show 80%+ of balding risk is purely genetic ar sensitivity.

pinning test results in conversion to more dht which binds to those scalp receptors and shuts down the follicle growth cycle, so diet wouldnt change the genetic binding affinity of your hair follicles.
