I don't understand why debating anime is exactly a "soy" thing or being a tad obcessed with it, there are a lot of compelling stories that can feel personal to a lot of people, I do agree that a lot of people can be annoying about it.

Naruto, dragon ball, bleach or one piece just to put some mainstream examples are all cringe as fuck dubbed, sound like any emotion is forced and like acting at a stage more than natural voices. Also once you get used to it, reading subs isnt at all difficult, and comes as natural without losing sight of the art itself.

no, always sounded kind of weird, like "low cost cheap rushed" dub, with a lower quality/feel than western cartoon or animation dubs. And when I watched subbed anime for the first time it "clicked" like that's how the characters were supposed to sound.
