I had a kebab yesterday and added heaps of cayenne pepper (which is dried and ground chili peppers) to it because I like spicy food but I guess it was too much. Woke up after only 4-5 hours of sleep with the worst stomach ache and cramping I've ever had. It still hurts - although not as much - about 10 hours later, despite taking two sodium bicarbonate pills. Was gonna take care of a few things but today was a waste of time since I was unable to do anything.

I used to add excessive amounts of cayenne pepper to my meals on a regular basis a few years ago and thought you can't loose tolerance to capsaicin, also because the burn in my mouth yesterday was barely noticeable, unlike my gut today. Never had stomach issues from chili peppers before. Could also be because I had thiamine hydrochloride with and a few beers after the kebab

Haven't had a kebab in half a year. Tbh, I don't crave them anymore. I prefer eating simpler foods these days like fruits, bread and beans. Not all kebabs are the same, at some shops they taste like old shoe soles while others make great ones. I'd rather eat bread and beans than a bad kebab

I always hade huge problems with spicy food, i would get insane stomach pain from it, it sucks, and i think spicy food activated my ulcerative colitis maybe

But cayenne isn't that hot on the Scoville scale, it's considered mild. I ate some habaneros before and I was fine, the chocolate ones were hotter and made my nose runny.

I never had any problems before. It was just too much.

Spicy foods don't trigger IBD. They can make it more painful but capsaicin doesn't damage the gut (except from excessive astronomical amounts). It may actually even help by desensitizing pain receptors

Then why would i have painful diarrhea from spicy food and extreme pain if it doesn't damage anything

Because capsaicin acts on pain receptors. Coupled with pre-existing inflammation in the gut, your body reacts with increased pain and diarrhea
