During ottoman times, there was a well known tradition in the Balkans which was only used for the Christian orthodox Serbian population.
A high ranked ottoman could enter a house if he felt like having sex with a Serbian woman. When he entered, her husband had to carry his shoes with his hands and walk 3 times around his own house, while the ottoman was enjoying his wife.
The wife often got pregnant but the children were often killed after birth, but not always.
This didn’t apply for Bosnians and Albanians, because they converted to Islam and therefore they enjoyed rights and their wife’s were not touched.
